Jamaine Cripe
Deputy Mayor
Jamaine Cripe is a Committee Member for The Maplewood Township Committee. A more equitable, accessible, safer, forward-looking Maplewood is the direction Mrs. Cripe hopes to help lead our community into being. This is Mrs. Cripe's first term as a member of the Township Committee, though she has volunteered for the Recreation and Arts Committee and the Springfield Avenue Arts Initiative in years prior.
Mrs. Cripe works as a Religious Educator at Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Summit, New Jersey with the Pre-Kindergarten through middle school portfolio. She has decades of working with children and youth in education and social justice as both a volunteer and paid professional.
Mrs. Cripe has a Bachelors of Science in Motion Picture Technology from the University of Central Florida (GO KNIGHTS!) and a Master of Business Administration from the Metropolitan College of New York (unfortunately they do not have a football team). She is an Assistant Director member of the Directors Guild of America and a lifetime member of Zeta of New York and former International Officer of Phi Theta Kappa. She has called Maplewood her home for over 17 years. She shares a home in the Lightening Brook Neighborhood with her husband of 22 years, Rick, her teenaged daughter Alice, and a menagerie of pets (from rats to dogs).
