Township Committee Form of Government

The Township of Maplewood operates under the Township Committee form of government, in which the five members are elected at-large to staggered three-year terms. The elections are partisan. 

Ordinances on Final Passage

Any person wishing to comment on an ordinance considered for final passage is permitted to speak at the time the ordinance is being considered and before final action by the Township Committee. Speakers do not need to sign up before speaking.

Anyone who is unable to attend a Township Committee meeting in-person may submit comments and/or questions via maplewoodnj.gov/Report. Any questions/comments must be submitted no later than EOD (4:30pm) the date of the meeting.

Public Comment Sessions

At the beginning of the Township Committee meeting, public comments are 3 minutes per person maximum on Agenda items only, excluding ordinances scheduled for public hearing. Speakers do not need to sign up before speaking.

Near the end of the meeting, public comments are 3 minutes per person maximum on Agenda items or other topics. Speakers do not need to sign up before speaking.
