The Recreation Department offers various programs geared towards adults!
Adult Art Enrichment
Artists of all levels ages 18+ are invited to join our group of art curious as well as committed artists. We work in a nurturing and supportive environment sharing ideas, knowledge and encouragement to help further your exploration of art. Critiques amongst the group are helpful and meaningful. We also share information about upcoming exhibitions and opportunities in the field. Art materials are available to use. Class will take place on November 6 from 7pm-9pm at the DeHart Community Center.

Adult Open Gym Basketball
For the child in us that doesn’t want to stop bouncing that ball. Sunday mornings provide you the opportunity to get up and down the court and re live those glory days. Open to Maplewood and South Orange residents, age 30 and up. Registration is required. Program runs for 12 weeks on Sundays from 9am-11am at the Maplewood Middle School Gym beginning December 3.

Goat Yoga
Open to Maplewood & South Orange residents. Get your daily dose of healthy yoga vibes and top that off with an up-close-and-personal meeting with some goat friends. These goats may join you in your postures sometimes taking a moment to strike a pose on your back. Maplewood Recreation’s Goat Yoga is instructed by a certified yoga instructor and will introduce you to the cutest goats around. The Vinyasa yoga session lasts about one hour, followed by a few minutes of photos with the goats. Please be sure to bring your own yoga mat and a water source that has a cap. Space is limited, and must be purchased in advance.

Group Tennis Lessons
Maplewood Recreation offers seasonal tennis lessons for adults of all skill levels! Email tennisprogram@maplewoodnj.gov for any inquiries. New classes to begin in the Spring!
Pickleball Clinics
Develop your forehand, backhand, net play, and serving skills.
• Improve lobs and drop shots
• Improve your game with a different strategy
• Improve the selection of shots.
• Position the court more effectively
Learn the basics of pickleball (rules, rotations, and scoring) for beginners.
• Provides beginners with an open play environment to learn "how to play.
** It is recommended to bring your own pickleball racquet**
