Sessions at DeHart Community Center, 120 Burnett Avenue, Maplewood:

$30 for Maplewood & South Orange residents

$48 for non-residents

  • Aerobic Dance, Mondays and/ or Thursdays 9AM
    • Come join us for a fun, workout that engages each of your muscle groups. Set to music, this class is designed for you, regardless of your fitness level.  You’ll increase your muscle strength, range of motion, and improve your balance. No dance experience or equipment needed.
  • Balance & Stability, Thursdays 11AM
    • Mat work with concentration on hips and core, this is designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance.  Come join us and see your body feel more supple and flexible after the first class!  You'll feel great all day!  Please bring: your own mat.
  • Strength & Stretch, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and/ or Fridays 10AM
    • A class geared to building strength, flexibility, and balance.  A combination of weight training for the upper body and leg exercises for the lower body along with lots of attention to strengthening the core this class will improve balance and increase muscle tone. Set to music this class is Fun-filled and essential for the senior population. Bring dumbbells if you own them.

  • Zumba Gold, Tuesdays and/ or Fridays 10AM
    • A modified version of Zumba geared toward active, older adults seeking lower-impact workouts. This version is designed to meet the physiological and psychological needs of seniors.  Set to the best World Music, the movements are easy to follow.  No jumping, twisting or other potentially harmful motions. Zumba Gold is a perfect option for those seeking a FUN means of reaching their exercise goals.

Sessions at Maplewood Senior Center, 106 Burnett Avenue, Maplewood:

$25 for Maplewood & South Orange residents

$40 for non- residents 

  • Chair Yoga, Mondays, Wednesdays, and/ or Thursdays 11AM
    • A gentle form of yoga that is practiced while seated in a chair. Chair Yoga delivers similar benefits to the practice of other styles of Yoga and provides people, who may otherwise be unable to practice Yoga, with an opportunity to enjoy the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits that Yoga has to offer. 
  • Group Meditation, Wednesdays at 11AM 
    • Meditation has proven to decrease stress and anxiety, improve health, increase productivity, motivation and focus, and to increase relaxation. Join Amy Phillips, a Certified Meditation Teach and Life Coach, for one-hour guided meditation class that uses breathing exercises, affirmations, sound, and other techniques to empower you to find a place of stillness and calm within.
